New Wetumpka residents will need to update their driver’s license and automobile registration. New residents have 30 days after entering the state to obtain an Alabama diver license. Driver Licenses are available from the license examiner’s office. If you have a valid out-of-state driver license, you do not have to take a road test, but you will be required to take a written exam and an eye test. If you do not have a license, you must also take a road test.

An Alabama driver license is valid for four years from the date of purchase. The cost for taking the written exam is $5.00 (cash only)
