RECYCLING GENERAL INFORMATION The Recycle Center is located at Red Eagle Dr. The center is managed by the Public Works Director, and operated by the Recycle Center Coordinator. The recycle center earned Alabama’s “Best Small Municipal Program” award from the Alabama Recycling Coalition for 2000.
Recycling is an environmentally sound process that eliminates over fifteen hundred tons of waste every year from being placed into the City of Wetumpka Landfill. Recycling also helps preserve natural and manufactured resources. In 2003, the Wetumpka Recycle Center generated over $25,000 dollars for the sale of recycled materials. These funds are used for various beautification projects. CURBSIDE RECYCLING
Curbside recycling reduces the amount of household garbage collected by Advanced Disposal. As a result, each truck can collect household garbage from a greater number of houses, which equates to lower household garbage collection rates for everyone.
On the west side of the Bibb Graves Bridge the recycle pick-up will be on Thursday and East of Bibb Graves Bridge is on Wednesday. The public is also invited to drop off items at the center.
REMOVAL OF RECYCLED MATERIAL
Removal of recycled material or scavenging recycled materials is prohibited. If you have questions, please call 567-1328 during manned hours of operation. Used motor oil is only accepted at the Public Works Department City Shop. (110 Red Eagle Drive)
