WETUMPKA MUNICIPAL ELECTION
August 28, 2012
WHEREAS, the general election for the City of Wetumpka, Alabama, was duly and legally held on August 28, 2012 as provided by law; and
WHEREAS, the municipal governing body of the City of Wetumpka, Alabama, met on this 4th day of September, a quorum thereof being present, at 12 o’clock a.m., and has canvassed the returns, and has ascertained and determined the number of votes received by each candidate; and
WHEREAS, the said municipal governing body has ascertained and determined the result of said election as follows:

WHEREAS, Six (6) Provisional Ballots were cast and delivered to the Elmore County Board of Registrars who determined three (3) ballots shall be counted and three (3) ballots shall not be counted. The municipal governing body has ascertained and determined that the ballots that shall be counted were ballots cast in Voting District Two as follows:

WETUMPKA MUNICIPAL RUN – OFF ELECTION
October 9 , 2012
WHEREAS, the run-off election for the City of Wetumpka, Alabama, was duly and legally held on October 9, 2012 as provided by law; and
WHEREAS, the municipal governing body of the City of Wetumpka, Alabama, met on this 15th day of October, a quorum thereof being present, during the regular meeting of the City Council beginning at 7:00 p.m., and has canvassed the returns, and has ascertained and determined the number of votes received by each candidate; and
WHEREAS, the said municipal governing body has ascertained and determined the result of said election as follows:

WHEREAS, no Provisional Ballots were cast to be delivered to the Elmore County Board of Registrars .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Wetumpka, Alabama, as follows:
1. That Kevin Robbins received a majority of votes cast for the office of Councilmember for District One (1) and is hereby declared duly elected to that office for the term beginning on the first Monday in November, 2012.

Election of the Mayor and all five (5) Council Districts
The Mayor must reside within the City Limits and have been a resident for at least 90 days prior to the election and be a qualified elector,
Councilmembers are elected from each district and must be a qualified elector.
Councilmembers must reside within the limits of the district during their term of office.
Candidates for Council must have been a resident of the district for at least 90 days prior to the election.
There is no fee for qualifying to become a candidate in the election.
Candidates may qualify to run for office beginning on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 through Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at the Administrative Building located at 408 South Main Street, by filing a statement of candidacy with Janice Whorton, the City Clerk, the election official for the City of Wetumpka.
Candidates are required to file a Statement of Economic Interest when filing the statement of candidacy. Candidates are also required to comply with the Fair Campaign Practices Act.
Run-Offs, if necessary, are scheduled for Tuesday, October 9, 2012. The new administration will take office on the first Monday in November, November 5, 2012.
The salary of the Mayor is $25,000 per year. The salary of a Councilmember is $7,200 per year.
In order to vote in the municipal election, a person must be a qualified elector (register to vote with the Elmore County Board of Registrars) and must have resided within the city limits for at least 30 days prior to the election.
